| Film Synopsis |
Composed of three episodes, this omnibus film tells three stories that seem separate yet organically linked to each other. First episode portrays a bizarre experience of a film director who is obsessed with directing a film titled Evil Spirit:VIY. Second episode shows a theater group trying to stage the original story of Evil Spirit:VIY as truthfully as possible. This episode helps the audience to understand what was going on in the first episode. The last episode is a story of a visually impaired man who gets possessed by a witch. In his directorial debut feature, Jin-sung Park imaginatively expresses the various images the word “witch” conjures up in different times and spaces. The film shows, through elaborate composition and unique visual devices, that extreme fear and extreme happiness are the two sides of the same coin. |
